The Italian sign language, in acronym LIS, is a natural language conveyed through the visual-gestural channel and used in the Italian territory by the members of the Deaf Community, who can be deaf and hearing, native or late signers. My project presents photos of deaf people who "speak" with LIS and I demonstrate the different interpretation of each person, as happens with the hearing impaired and the tone and voice timbre. Here we see the difference in the way we interpret the language with our hands and with facial expressions. LIS is not only "spoken" with the hands, but also with the movements of the face. You have to put on ear muffs to be able to identify with the deaf person and to create silence while looking at the photos.
La lingua dei segni Italiana, in acronimo LIS, è una lingua naturale veicolata attraverso il canale visivo-gestuale ed utilizzata nel territorio italiano da parte dei componenti della Comunità Sorda, che possono essere sordi e udenti, segnanti nativi o tardivi. Il mio progetto presenta le foto dei sordi che "parlano" con la LIS e dimostro la differente interpretazione di ogni persona, come succede con gli udenti e il tono e il timbro vocale. Qui si nota la differenza nel modo di interpretare la lingua con le mani e con le espressioni facciali. La LIS non è solo “parlata” con le mani, ma anche con i movimenti della faccia. Si devono mettere le cuffie antirumore per potersi immedesimare con la persona sorda e per creare il silenzio mentre si guardano le foto.
